Preparations are underway for a major musical concert which will be headlined by International musician ‘Akon’ in March this year. The concert will be held in Accra in partnership with media company EiB Network. After disclosing at a press conference in December last year in Accra, that Akon will be officially releasing a brand new album this year, the Pop sensation also stated that him and his team were planning something major for Accra in March. The concert will seek to promote the new album dubbed ‘The Connect Album’ as well as draw attention, especially from the Diasporas, to Africa as a rising power. The Chief Executive Officer of EiB Network in Ghana Kwabena Adisi, affirmed preparations towards the concert and asked Ghanaians to anticipate great excitement in March this year.
Akon has experimented with different music genres; even Afropop and Afrobeats. But, this year, he returns to the genres that brought him world fame: Hip Hop, R&B and Pop. His new album dubbed ‘The Connect Album’ will set the tone for his major concert in March 2020 in Accra. “My new album that is dropping in 2020 is ‘The Connect Album’. It is the traditional Hip Hop and R&B album that most of you are used to hearing from me. I can’t even explain it because it’s crazy! So, you just have to get it. Plus, right now, we are working on something huge for March this year”, he said.
The C.E.O of EiB Network Kwabena Adisi also known as ‘Bola Ray’, confirmed that indeed something exciting, which included Akon, was bound for Accra in March this year. “Something big is coming up in March, so watch out for the date. We know one thing for sure, Akon will shut down Ghana”, he said.
This will not be the first time Akon will be performing in Accra as he has performed to thousands of Ghanaians alongside Shatta Wale and other African artistes previously at the Guinness Eruption Concert in Accra, Ghana.
