Described as the teddy bear of last year’s edition of the MTN Hitmaker; a music reality show that unearths potential musicians in Ghana, Jeremy has started his career as a professional musician by releasing his debut single ‘My Baby’. Despite failing to make it to the finals, Jeremy has remained focused even with discouraging comments that were said about him during the reality show last year at the National Theatre in Accra.
One of the singing talents from the ‘MTN Hitmaker 8’ reality TV show ‘Jeremy’, has responded to critics with his debut single ‘My Baby’. The song was produced by Ghanaian music producer ‘Mix Master Garzy’. Jeremy hasn’t always been admired especially for his talent. On the last day of eviction at the MTN Hitmaker reality TV series, after performing ‘Everybody Falls in Love’, Jeremy received some not very encouraging comments from the judges. “The performance didn’t move me. You should have brought your ‘A’ game since this is the final performance before the finale”, said judge Richie Mensah. But, the hardest comment came from the President of the Creative Arts Council of Ghana Mark Okraku Mantey, when he attended the show as a guest judge. “I am not sure why you were chosen, because with your vocal ability, there’s a question mark”, he said.
Nevertheless, Jeremy has remained passionate about his craft and is ready to prove the critics wrong with his new single ‘My Baby’. ‘My Baby’ comprises Caribbean rhythms with some Ghanaian dialects, a little Jamaican slang but is dominated by the English language. Jeremy delivers smooth vocals to romantic lyrics on the song to create that ‘honeymoon’ ambiance when you listen. At the moment, Jeremy is back in school pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Business I.T.
