Yesterday at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel in Accra, some women personalities who have stood for excellence in their various fields of endeavors over the years, were honoured at the ‘3Music Women’s Brunch’; an event that precedes the ‘3Music Awards’ as part of the activities which aim to highlight the importance of music in Ghana and the challenges facing the industry as well as the stakeholders. Among the honorees were the Chief Executive Officer of Charterhouse Productions Theresa Ayoade, Ex – Minister Hon. Dzifa Gomashie, Daughters of Glorious Jesus, Tagoe Sisters to name a few. According to the organizers of the ‘3Music Awards’, the event sought to celebrate women in the Creative Arts in Ghana as well as continue the conversation for women empowerment within the industry.
The organizers of the ‘3Music Awards’ on Sunday 8th March 2020 assembled a group of women from the creative arts industry in Ghana to discuss issues relevant to the development of women in the industry in Ghana at an event dubbed ‘3Music Women’s Brunch’. As part of the event, 10 women with outstanding achievements in the creative arts industry in Ghana were presented with honorary awards. They were the Chief Executive Officer of Charterhouse Productions Theresa Ayoade, Grace Omaboe also known as ‘Maame Dokono’, Akosua Agyepong, Ex – Minister Hon. Dzifa Gomashie, Daughters of Glorious Jesus, Tagoe Sisters, Heather Badger, Tiwaa of the gospel group Yaw Sarpong and Asomafo and Asabea Cropper, and Playwright Efua Sutherland; who was also honoured posthumously.
The organizers of the ‘3Musis Women’s Brunch’ explained the purpose for the event. “Today’s event, which coincided with International Women’s Day, highlights among other things, the gains made by women in the space, while bringing to the fore, the challenges and opportunities that exist. Today’s event is significant for many reasons as it sought to shore up interest, and consolidate the sustained efforts made over the years in the push for female empowerment within the space and beyond”, they said.
‘3Music Women’s Brunch’ is a social impact initiative designed to make a case for female empowerment and inclusion in the arts and entertainment industry. Two panel sessions led by Naa Ashorkor and Nhyira Addo of Joy FM, spoke to pertinent issues women in the sector face including sexual exploitation.
‘3Music Women’s Brunch’ was held as part of the scheme’s ‘Power of 3’ campaign for this year, which focuses on three stands: The Fans, The Music and Impact. ‘3Music Awards’ 2020 is jointly powered by 3Media Networks, Multimedia Group, Fantasy Dome and EandE Ghana. The ‘3 Music Awards’ will be held on the 28th of March 2020 at the Fantasy Dome, La.
