After gathering a lot of steam for his new album ‘Anloga Junction’ which features a host of celebrated international artistes from Africa as well as the Western world, Stonebwoy responded in an interview with ‘GQ South Africa’ that he does not rush collaborations, neither does he chase after personalities for such works but he is rather guided by purpose. He said this guaranteed good music. Stonebwoy said this in a live public video interview yesterday from his residence in Accra.
Collaborations are a way of expanding a musician’s fan base and also increasing their commercial value. Nevertheless, multiple award winning Ghanaian musician Stonebwoy has stated that this is not a reason to rush collaborations. “I’m one person who doesn’t rush collaborations. Honestly, I don’t chase after people but rather purpose. Because, when there is a purpose, it brings people together. When you chase after people, they might not be the right ones for the purpose and that’s why I don’t Rush things”, he explained.
Stonebwoy also hinted possible collaborations and other works in the pipeline with some big names in the music industry. “I think a collaboration with Wizkid is long over due. Wizkid and I have spoken and touched base a few times, so if time permits it will surely happen. Davido and I have also done a song before, but we lost the files, so we are planning on doing another one”, he said.
Stonebwoy has worked with quite a number of big names such as Beenie Man, Burna Boy, AKA from South Africa, Keri Hilson, and others. He said that he was also in the studio on a project with Damian Marley and desired to also work with Jamaican musician Bujubanton.
