The second edition of the Social Media Entertainment Awards in Ghana has been scheduled for August this year. This was disclosed by the founder Kofi Mulan in an exclusive phone interview with Shine Publications yesterday. He said that this year’s event would see some rebranding from plaques to logo. He also mentioned that American celebrity Kat Graham is very likely to be participating. The Social Media Entertainment Awards seeks to celebrate excellence among the entertainment community on social media. This year’s event will come off at a plush hotel in Accra which will soon be announced.
The Founder of the Social Media Entertainment Awards Kofi Mulan, said that this year’s event will cover a wider range of endeavours on social media and record one of the highest number of submissions from potential nominees just like last year. “History will repeat it self again this year as Social Media Entertainment Awards Ghana is going to explore all the available works of people who are using social media as a tool to impact society positively and entertain as well”, he said.
The Founder also affirmed that there would be some changes in this year’s event. “There’s a whole new branding from our logos, plaques, the criteria, including categories, and yes, the entire event as well”, he said.
He added that American celebrity Kat Graham has expressed interest in this year’s awards. “I’m proud to tell you that American actor, singer and humanitarian Kat Graham management are in talks with us concerning this year’s Social Media Entertainment Awards and that is wonderful. It’s time to go global”, he said.
Finally, he said he doubted that the Coronavirus crisis had affected social media negatively. “Personally, I think social media is the only tool which has not been affected by the pandemic. It has rather become very useful to the Ghanaian community and helped it thrive with great ideas and creativity emerging”, he said.
This year’s Social Media Entertainment Awards will be under the theme ‘Rewarding Excellence in Media Influence’ and will celebrate talents and excellence across the globe.
