Ghana Models Awards Opens Nominations

The Executive Director of the Ghana Models Awards Jerry Wonder has announced the official opening of the nominations for the third edition of Ghana’s premiere models awards scheme. A few days ago, the Secretariat to the scheme started receiving submissions from potential model nominees. Jerry Wonder also stated that the process would last a period of one month from the 1st to the 31st of August 2020. He encouraged emerging modeling talents to participate having in mind that this was a professional scheme hence, would be based on evidence of professional work done in 2019.

The Founder and Executive Director of the Ghana Models Awards Jerry Wonder, has emphasized the need for models to participate in this year’s edition. “As a professional model, you should contribute your quota to developing the industry by firstly, helping announcing to the public that modeling is a profession and that we have professional models here in Ghana. This can be done simply by participating in this awards scheme because, it is this platform that, through the media, would echo our achievements in order for both the Government and the public to recognize us”, he said.

He also explained why the Ghana Models Awards as part of the criteria for nominations, demanded that all nominees belong to a model agency in Ghana. “We don’t want to encourage freelance modeling. This will make it difficult to set a standard pay rate favourable to tax paying model agencies and their signed models. Freelance models abide by their own rules and not what has been agreed on by the industry. So, if we want the industry to stand, we must empower our model agencies first”, he said.
