Ghanaian actor Anthony Woode has expressed his continuous joy and excitement after winning the award for ‘Promising Actor of Year’ at this year’s edition of the Golden Movie Awards Africa which came off on the 19th of December at the Fantasy Dome in Accra. In an exclusive interview with Shine Publications, the actor described the accolade as an ego booster.
Not many celebrities in Ghana speak about the benefits that come with winning an award at home, but Actor Anthony Woode has a different perspective. “This will give me leverage and a stepping stone ahead in my career, because this award is not just desired by Ghanaians, but also by other African countries. Personally, it has boosted my ego, because i am being recognize for my hard work on an international platform. Though it’s being a tough journey, this will always remind me of the reason I started this journey as an Actor”, he explained.
Furthermore, Anthony Woode spoke about how challenging the role was for him. “I had to play a character of a ‘dissociative identity’ which I personally described to my own understanding as a chameleon. My character was an armed-robber, but whenever he met with friends, he pretended to be a descent gentle businessman. So, I think my ability to enact that character is evidence enough that I deserve the award for the film ‘2 Days After Friday”, he said.
