Some minutes ago, Actress Rosemond Brown, also known as ‘Akuapem Poloo’, was sentenced to 3 months in prison by a Circuit Court in Accra. The Court was presided over by Her Honour Christiana Cann, who stated that there was the need to set an example by punishing such immoral acts as there was a rise in such unacceptable conduct in the society. She added that a thorough look at the plea was made before concluding on the case.
The sentencing of Actress Rosemond Brown comes as a follow up to last Wednesday’s conviction by the Court on Rosemond’s own guilty plea to the charges levelled against her for posting a photo she took nude, with her 7 year old son who was half naked, on his birthday on June, 30th 2020.
Actress Rosemond Brown initially pleaded not guilty to the charges but later reconsidered her decision.
According to The Court, a pregnancy test was also administered to the actress prior to the sentencing as a requirement by law. The Actress was sentenced to 90 days on each count but The Court stated that the sentences would have to be run concurrently, therefore, bring her total time in jail to 3 months.
The Director of Child Right International Ghana Bright K. Appiah, was the Complainant and the prosecution was led by Chief Inspector Agartha Asantewaa.
