Rapper Trigmatic on Friday at Flip Bar in Osu, officially launched a music video to his single ‘Sophia’. In the company of the press and well wishers, he responded to a question about how the song came to him saying that it was inspired by his house help.
Trigmatic explained how he got the inspiration for his single by eavesdropping on his house help. “Sophia was a girl I used to live with; I really don’t like using the word ‘house-help’ because I see them as a part of us. So, one night, I overheard Sophia on the phone with a guy. I heard the guy begging Sophia not to breakup with him just because she has now come to Accra and seen a better life. So, long story cut short, I went to the studio that night and recorded the track ‘Sophia’ as a skeleton based on the issue I overheard, and then came back later to finish the song”, he explained.
The music video for the song ‘Sophia’ was shot in South Africa and had a very African feel to it. Afropop and Afrobeats musician Trigmatic said it was deliberate. “I did the story board and Co – Directed the video as well. I just wanted a simple video. I wanted it to be abstract as well as African”, he said.
Trigmatic is currently a nominee at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards and is a respected songwriter and one of the rising names on Afrobeats in Ghana.
