Despite not winning the ‘Artiste of the Year’ at the 2021 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards as predicted by many, Highlife and Afropop musician KiDi, still made a great impact by winning 4 awards at the event on Saturday in Accra. Obviously slightly disappointed by not winning the overall award for the night, KiDi remained well composed and thankful to the scheme and his fans for the honor done him. KiDi had an impressive year both in 2019 and 2020 with a truck load of hit songs and high streaming figures from his online released singles and albums.
Speaking about one of his awards, the ‘EP of the Year’ for ‘Blue EP’, he said, “We put out this EP in the heart of the pandemic, but I didn’t know well it was going to do. But, it went on to make numbers and blow up world wide. So, I thank the fans, and I thank the media. It’s ‘Golden Boy’ season, ‘Golden Boy’ is out, go stream it”.
KiDi picked up an amazing four awards, the same as fellow singer Diana Hamilton, namely the award for ‘Best EP of the Year’ for ‘Blue EP’, ‘Afrobeats/ Afroposong of the Year’ for ‘Say Cheese’, ‘Afrobeats/ Afropop Artiste of the Year’, and ‘Highlife Song of the Year’ for ‘Enjoyment’.
