The 6th edition of the annual Emy Africa Awards, an event that seeks to inspire excellence by celebrating achievements of various personalities from the African continent, had a parade of renowned Ghanaian personalities, as well as some other popular faces from other countries like Nigeria, walk the red carpet on Saturday 23rd October at the Kempinski Hotel in Accra. The recipient of the highest award for the evening, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of McDan Group Dr Daniel McKorley, expressed his gratefulness and joy stating that the award was a representation of the collective efforts of many people who had grown with the McDan family.
In a statement published via social media, Dr Daniel McKorley thanked both the Emy’s awarding body and the public for this achievement. “When the McDan brand started two decades back, I knew I was on a mission, and that purpose has helped me do the things I do today. But everything you have seen me achieve through this mission, I did not get to accomplish by myself. So many have walked with me, helped me, encouraged and stood by me. This is why this award is a big picture of what we do at McDan Group, who we are and where we are going. …And although I am the one holding this award, it actually belongs to a much larger community of individuals. Truly, this recognition has everything to do with the talented, supportive, creative and intensely passionate family I’ve surrounded myself with over the years. Together, we have made decisions, taken risks, and taken on challenges that have led to this moment. I would never have been able to make it here; if I didn’t have these wonderful hands holding me. This award is ours to celebrate and we should do exactly that. You are the actual “men of the year”, he said.
Other award winners of the night included Big Brother Africa former housemate Ebuka Obi Uchendu, multiple award winning musician ‘Stonebwoy’, celebrated Ghanaian Actor Adjetey Anang, 2021 Olympian Benjamin A. – Kwaku, Chief Executive Officer of Vodafone Ghana Patricia Obonai, founder of 3Music Awards and Television Saddick Ibrahim, television personality Deloris Frimpong Manso, amongst others.
