2015 Wesley Grammar Senior High School graduate Francis Agbett has been nominated for his first feature film ‘Cold Road’. The young lad expressed his appreciation for the nomination and described this as a major victory for upcoming filmmakers in Ghana. He said this in an exclusive interview with Shine Publications today at the Silverbird Cinemas, Accra.

26 years old Ghanaian filmmaker Francis Agbett has taken his YouTube lessons mainstream with his film ‘Cold Road’. Yet, the filmmaker describes himself as upcoming but acknowledges his achievement as major. “It’s a big win for upcoming industry players like myself, and those looking up to the big guys, because even if we don’t win this award, it is still a big inspiration to us. So, win or loose, I dedicate this award to Evey young filmmaker trying to put Ghana on the map”, he said.

Adding to his excitement, he called on upcoming filmmakers to grow in their craft by sharing ideas with fellow filmmakers as this would eventually open more doors for them. ” If we come together and share our knowledge and experience as upcoming filmmakers, we can make an impact in our society and build the industry that we desire”, he said.

Frances Agbett has produced other short films such as ‘John & Jane’ and ‘Black Towel’ which are available to the public on YouTube at his channel ‘AgbettTv’. Francis Agbett decide to pursue film full time after the passing of his dad in 2014. According to him, his commitment to film remains unshaken.
