DSTV’s Akwaaba Magic Lauds Angela Bamford for New Tv Show

The Head of Channels for DSTV’s ‘Akwaaba Magic’ Kennedy Dankyi Appah, on Saturday 8th January 2022 at the DSTV Head Office in Accra, praised the efforts of Actress and media personality Angela Bamford on successfully completing production of her brand new television series ‘The Angela Bamford Show’. He was speaking at the watch party which aired the very first episode of the series to invited guests and industry persons.

In addressing the audience during the night, the Head of Channels for DSTV’s ‘Akwaaba Magic’ Kennedy Dankyi Appah, said words are not enough to thank Angela Bamford for this initiative. “…I cannot thank Angela enough; I think she deserves another round of applause. Angela, you have done well… So, thank you Angela for this amazing show. When Angela contacted us and we looked at it (the show), we said wow! We need to find a way to make this happen. And, with ‘Akwaaba Magic’, we believe Ghana has the best… I can say this without any fear or contradiction that Ghana has talent’, he said.

Also speaking at the event, Actress and media personality Angela Bamford said that the need arose for her to create her own show after she experienced a long knowledge gap about Africa during her stay abroad; and also because, now, she could speak on issues deemed too sensitive in the Ghanaian media. “When you say you are from Africa in the West, you usually get a lot of ignorant questions such as, “Do you have internet? etc.”…So, I realized that there was a knowledge gap based on stereotypes and perpetrated by the media. Then, I decided to do my own thing because, with other television stations where I worked, I realized that productions were very censored; you couldn’t talk about certain things. So I decided that we were going to put together a show that was going to place Africa first and be Afrocentric; we wanted to control the narrative by telling our own stories”, she explained.

Angela Bamford is a Ghanaian Actress, former model, and a television personality. She has received nominations for her acting skills at the 2020 Golden Movie Awards Africa. She received an honorary award for her humanitarian and philanthropic work in Ghana at the Ghana Models Awards. She has worked in the media space in Ghana with well known television brands namely TV 3, GH One and Qwese TV.
