3Music Awards 2022 Launched Successfully! … Promises of Surprises This Year!

On Friday, the 5th edition of the 3Music Awards was launched in Accra under the theme “More Than Music” with 32 categories summing up to 150 nominations. The Board Chair of 3Music Awards James korsah Brown, stated that this year’s edition would be full of surprises and a special training programme for videographers by the scheme in partnership with HD Plus (Gh). 3Music Awards is a annual music awards ceremony that celebrates music made in Ghana across a wide variety of music genres.

Speaking at the launch, the Board Chair James Korsah, expressed his excitement at this year’s edition and the current trend in music in Ghana. “I am very happy that the new guys coming in are pushing Highlife. And, this year, I promise you, we are going to have surprises”, he said

He added that there would be a training programme for videographers in partnership with one of the sponsors of the event ‘HD Plus Ghana, to help improve Ghanaian music video productions. “We are partnering with 3Music awards to bring this so they can really learn how to produce and so they can take Ghanaian music to the world stage …”, he said.

Furthermore, the Board Chair James korsah Brown stated that the year in review for nominations for this year’s event was from 1st November 2020 to 31st October 2021. He said the Research Team had more than 500 potential nominations but finally reduced them 150 nominations.

The Board comprised popular music pundits such as Sammy Flexx, Arnold Asamoah Baidoo, MzGee, Stip, among others.

Videos shown at the event showed Board members in heated debates over entries for the nominations at the Volta Hotel in Akosombo.

Some of the nomination categories include ‘Breakthrough Act of the year’, ‘Afrobeat/ Afropop Song of the Year’, ‘Highlife Song of the Year’, ‘Gospel Song of the Year’, ‘Collaboration of the Year’, ‘Women of the Year’, ‘Rapper of the year’, ‘Hiplife song of the year’, ‘Video of the Year’, ‘Viral Song of the Year’, ‘Artiste of the Year’ and others.

Some of the nominees were  Malcom Nuna, Darko Vibes, Kuami Eugene, King Promise, Sefa, Mr Drew, Stonebwoy, Sina Soul, Kofi Kinaata, Mona 4 Real, Diana Hamilton, Wendy Shay, Sarkodie, Strongman, etc.

In attendance were Edem Agbana (Deputy Youth Organizer – NDC), Adina performed, Actor Salma Mumin, Mr Drew, Keche, Amerado, Kofi Jamar, Yaw Tog, Black Sherif,  Ohemaa Mercy, Abeiku Santana and others.
