Actor and ‘Spoken Word’ artiste Jeffrey Nortey, on Saturday in Accra revealed to Shine Publications that he would consider negotiations on his fees as a professional actor for Christian movies. The award winning actor was speaking on the need for the church or religious bodies to use entertainment as a tool in preaching the gospel of the christian faith to the public.
Not many actors would disclose their choice of films for salary cuts, but Jeffrey Nortey was very bold in stating his. “I don’t charge the same for every movie; it depends on the number of days on set etc. However, for the kingdom, we can negotiate (on the charges)”, he explained.
Actress Martha Ankomah earlier this year, released her movie ‘A Happy Surprise’ which can be described as ‘christian’ and had many church members visiting the Silverbird Cinemas on its premiere. Another church motivated successful premiere was the movie ‘God Is African’ which premiere 2days ago. So, when asked about the current trend, using church members to fill cinema halls, Actor Jeffrey Nortey described it as smart. “If it’s a strategy to pull people into the cinemas, then, it’s a good strategy”, he said.
Earlier this year, Jeffrey Nortey starred in the dramatic movie ‘Tito’ which many saw him step out of his usual romantic or comedic character into a violent killer. He has won many awards for his craft and has received recognition from the Ghana Movie Awards; Ghana’s highest movie award scheme.
