The General Manager of Tv3 Ghana, a subsidiary of media conglomerate ‘Media General’ has stated in a recent online publication that the media giant will join forces with the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards to champion the cause of using music to change society for the better by giving it’s various media platforms as promotional outlets for the song or music video of the winner for the ‘Music for Good’ Award. According to the General Manager of Tv3 Francis Doku, the purpose of the ‘Music for Good’ Award runs parallel with the goals of the media company.
In the publication, the General Manager of Tv3 Francis Doku, added that it was a joy to contribute to such an initiative; as it was part of their duty as media company. “We believe that as a media business, we need to influence society positively by being first in news and best in entertainment. ‘Music for Good’ and everything it represents, sits within this goal. We are therefore happy to support the winner to carry out their project and related activities to increase the impact.”
According to the publication, ‘Media General’ will support the winner to ensure his or her message reaches many people across their platforms including TV3, 3FM, Connect FM, Onua FM, Onua TV, 3News, social media, and other Internet portals.
The Head of Communications and Public Events at Charterhouse Ghana Robert Klah, described the partnership as good for the cause of music. “We believe music is a force for good, and we are happy to partner with Media General to magnify the impact of the winning artiste”, he said.
The Music for Good Category which was formerly ‘Music for Development’ and sponsored by the World Bank, is a honorary award presented to an artiste(s) using a song or a music video to address a societal problem. The artiste must have released a song (for the cause) within the year under review. Previous winners include multiple award winner Kofi Kinaata.
The 23rd Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, will be aired live on TV3, on the 6th and 7th of May, 2022. The event is produced by Charterhouse, with support from TV3, DSTV, and sponsored by Vodafone.
