‘Home & Away’ Movie Premieres with a Bang Despite Challenges

Contrary to what many had thought, after the initial date for the premiere was postponed abruptly, the movie ‘Home and Away’ premiered on Sunday 17th July 2022 with a very impressive turn out. People mostly within the youth bracket, filled the second showing of the movie till there were no seats available; despite some ticket holders still standing outside the hall. The Producer of ‘Home and Away’ Elinam Benedicta, said though she remains a passionate filmmaker, this profession is still very challenging. She cited funding as a major obstacle in an interview on Sunday at the premiere at Snap Cinemas; inside the Accra Metropolitan Assembly Headquarters.

Being her first feature film, Film Producer and Actress Elinam Elinam Benedicta, said she was glad that people still came out to watch the movie; despite the rescheduling in dates. She added that, the story had a very important message to the youth in the recent hunger for success and glory. Hence, the reason for the timing of its release. “Patience is needed in life, take it one step at a time”, she explained.

Speaking on some of the challenges she encountered prior to the premiere of ‘Home and Away’, Elinam who is also the Chief Executive Officer of ‘I Care Films’, stated that funding was still a major hurdle to cross in producing a movie. “We invested a lot in this movie… This money is coming from our own pocket. It hasn’t been easy. And we all pay taxes, so, government needs to invest into this industry because the struggles to bring out a movie is too much”, she said.

‘Home and Away’ illustrates the quest of two young men who are faced with Kidnapping and ritual murders camouflaged as their only route to financial freedom. What appears to be a narrow escape for two ambitious boys who desire an entire upgrade of their standard of living, turns out to be an escapade into a wild adventure. The blend of humor and suspense entertained the audience as there were several moments of laughter and cheering in the hall.

The movie ‘Home and Away’ was Directed by Kofi Nyame with appearances by popular Ghanaian Actors namely Prince David Osei, Nikki Samonas, Peter Ritchie amongst others. Nigerian Actor Bimbo Ademoye also featured in the movie.
