‘I Won with Confidence’ … Samuel Whyte

After winning the award for ‘Production Coordinator of the Year’ , Ghanaian Filmmaker Samuel Whyte Agyapong, has revealed that he wasn’t so surprised after his movies made it the shortlist of the 7th edition of the African Icons Awards at the National Theatre in Accra, on Sunday.

Samuel Whyte was awarded for his works in the movies ‘Trinity’ by ‘One Time Entertainment’ and ‘Valentine’s Day’ directed by Kobi Rana. Despite being grateful, Samuel Whyte explained that he wasn’t so surprised at the selection of those movies. “There’s a lot of work that went into these two productions…”, he said.

He added that the award was a source of motivation to him and said it was a good step in projecting the Ghana film industry because, usually, very few awards recognized the hard work of the professional’s ‘behind the camera’.

Samuel Whyte Agyapong has worked on many movies in Ghana such as ‘Galamsey’, starring Actors John Dumelo, Nana Ama McBrown, and cinema blockbuster ‘Ghetto Hero’, and Netflix published movie ‘Deranged’, to name a few.
