French Ambassador Anne Sophie Wins ‘Woman of the Year’ Award

The French Ambassador to Ghana Anne Sophie was honored for her contributions to the Arts industry in Ghana at the Golden Age Creative Arts Awards (GACAA) Awards in Ghana last week Thursday with the award of ‘Woman of the Year’. The event came off at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel in Accra. She was part of the many recipients of various awards on the night. The Founder of the awards scheme Ellis Adjei said that that award was as a result of her relentless commitment shown to the Arts community in Ghana.

The Founder of the Golden Age Creative Arts Awards Ellis Adjei, said that Ambassador Anne Sophie was very deserving of her award. “The Golden Age Creative Arts Awards is held annually to honour personalities who have demonstrated good values and stood out as role models in their fields of endeavour; as well as social activists. The award seeks to honour and echo their progress and impact in our society in order to inspire others to follow in their footsteps. With regards to Her Excellency Anne Sophie, her works are no secret. She has promoted Ghanaian music, fashion and film, and advocated for improved standards of business in the Arts from exploring international collaborations to empowering local C.M.Os. She is a believer that indeed, the Arts industry in Ghana can become an economic force. She has also given back to the community in many ways; with her foundation her in Ghana as proof of her live for this country”, he said.

As part of her many commendable initiatives, Her Excellency the French Ambassador to Ghana Anne Sophie in July began a campaign through a fund she established called ‘The Akosua Fund’, to raise an amount of Ghc 500,000 to help in rebuilding a Junior High School and assisting a brilliant but needy student both in Begho ( a town in Ghana).
