Global Citizen Festival for Accra on September 24th

International music concert, ‘Global Citizen Festival’, heads to Ghana to echo the call to end poverty around the world. The event which is scheduled to come off on the 24th of September 2022 at the historic Black Star Square in Accra, will feature both big names in international and Ghanaian entertainment namely, RnB giant Usher Raymond, H.E.R, Stormzy, Sarkodie, Stonebwoy, SZA, Gyakie and others. According to the management of the event, the Black Star Square has a symbolic meaning which adds to the cause of the fight against poverty.

A post on social media, 2 days ago, by the ‘Global Citizen Festival’s official page, described the Black Star Square in Accra as, “a historic site that represents democracy, independence and equality”. This falls in line with the message of the event to end poverty as it represented inequality.

Furthermore more, the Global Citizen Festival, through social media, called on everyone to support this fight against poverty. “But, if we’re actually going to make progress in the fight to end extreme poverty, we need people in Sao Paulo, Mumbai, Denmark, and everywhere in the world to take action and call on world leaders to step up”, the post read.

Earlier this year, during the National Music Summit in Accra, the Deputy Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture Hon. Mark Okraku Mantey mentioned the Global Citizen Festival coming to Ghana and asked Ghanaians to prepare to be entertained.

The Global Citizen Festival in Accra will be hosted simultaneaously with another Global Citizen Festival ongoing in New York City. The festival started in 2012 hence, marking their jubilee celebration this year. The initiative seeks action on gender related issues for girls, environmental safety and preservation for the planet, and the eradication of poverty for humanity.
