Yaa Asantewaa 3D Animation Movie Set to Premiere 10th December …with Nana Ama McBrown as Lead Actress!

Finally, movie enthusiasts and critics can breathe a sign of relief as the long awaited movie of Ghanaian Legendary woman Yaa Asantewaa, has been announced to premiere at the Silverbird Cinemas on 10th December 2022. Award – winning Ghanaian Actress and television personality Nana Ama McBrown Mensah, who is also the voice of Yaa Asantewaa in the animated movie, shared the poster on social media and called for support for the film. The film in titled ‘Asantewaa’ with the theme ‘The Battle for the Golden Stool’.

Nana Ama McBrown who appears to be excited about the movie ‘Asantewaa’, congratulated the producers of the film and asked the public to support the movie by purchasing tickets ahead of it’s premiere in December. “Hello Ghana, hello my people, I have beautiful news for us. This ( Asantewaa) is the creation of some young men right here in Ghana who need our support… Grab your ticket today. Made in Ghana”, she wrote on social media.

‘Asantewaa’ will not be the first Ghanaian animation about Ghanaian stories or history, but it will be the first Ghanaian animation about a well known historical character to premiere as a feature film at the Silverbird Cinemas. With movies like ‘The Woman King’ and ‘Black Panther – Wakanda Forever’ setting the tone for heroism, the timing for the release of the movie couldn’t have been better. As at now, anticipation has started building on social media towards its release.

Yaa Asantewaa was a the Queen Mother of ‘Ejisu’ in the Ashanti Region who stood up to fight voluntarily in the face of war with the British; even when the men were afraid. She has been a symbol of bravery in Ghana and her story is till told in schools across the nation till this day.
