The University Students’ Association of Ghana (USAG) held its first Senate Meeting yesterday at Kings University College in Aplaku Hills, South of the Greater Accra Region. The Senate Meeting marks the official commencement of the activities of the association, hence the swearing in of officers into various committees in order to begin executing various tasks and projects of the association.
Among the agenda for the meeting were the reading of institutional reports from the schools present and the state of the association which was read by the President of USAG, Oppong Kesse Albert. He stated in his report that the association was in a negotiation with the Russian Embassy on the issue of higher learning opportunities in Russia for students from Ghana, and that, they are hopeful that very soon students from Ghana would have abundant study opportunities in Russia. He also made mention of talks with Access Bank in allocating slots for interns from tertiary institutions in Ghana. The President therefore, swore in a committee called the ‘Attachment Committee’ to handle the issue of
tertiary internship placement.
In attendance were Student Representative Council Executives, past USAG executives, Presidents and executives of other student unions among others.
